Here is the **U.S. national average retail price** for regular gasoline (all formulations, including taxes) by month, in **dollars per gallon**. The data comes from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the most authoritative source for this information.
The “last 10 years” covers **2016 through 2025** in full, plus available 2026 data (January and February only, as later months are not yet finalized). Prices reflect monthly averages of weekly data.

**Notes**:
- These are national averages for **regular gasoline**. “All grades” prices (including mid-grade and premium) run slightly higher (typically $0.10–$0.20 more per gallon).
- Prices include all taxes and are in nominal dollars (not inflation-adjusted).
- 2020 saw sharp drops due to COVID-19 demand collapse. 2022 had the highest spikes, driven by global events and supply factors.
- Recent data (up to early 2026) shows lower prices compared to 2022 peaks, with some weekly fluctuations reported around $3–$4 in March 2026 depending on the source, but monthly averages remain the standard reference.
